COVID-19 in Haiti

These are frightening times with COVID-19 threatening the health and wellbeing of people throughout the world.  On behalf of all of us at HELO, we hope that you and your loved ones are safe and stay healthy.

On March 19, the Haitian government reported two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Haiti.  The president promptly closed Haiti's borders and airports, ordered schools and churches to close, and prohibited gatherings of more than ten people.  HELO's schools closed as of March 20. We spent this week developing a strategy to keep the children and staff safe and for isolating anyone who should become sick, and held teleconferences to implement that strategy and answer questions of our nurse, staff, and children.

As of today, there are 15 confirmed cases in Haiti. Our strategy is in place and we will continue to do our best to protect our children and staff.  For more information on our our urgent or on-going needs arising out of this pandemic, please visit the "News & Events" page.

Please be safe, we all pray for your health and wellbeing.
